Brief History
Lake Manyara National Park, established in 1960, spans 330 km² in northern Tanzania. Managed by TANAPA, it centers around the alkaline Lake Manyara, a seasonal haven for flamingos. The park is renowned for its tree-climbing lions and diverse ecosystems, from groundwater forests to savanna.
Climate and Accessibility
Accessible by road from Arusha (126 km, 2 hours) or charter flights to Manyara airstrip. The dry season (June-October) is ideal for wildlife viewing, with temperatures of 20-30°C. The wet season (November-April) brings 650-800 mm rainfall, enhancing birdwatching but making some roads muddy.
