Overview
Brief History
Serengeti National Park, established in 1951, spans 14,750 km² in northern Tanzania. Managed by TANAPA, it’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for the Great Migration of over 1.5 million wildebeest and zebras. Its name, derived from the Maasai word “Siringet” (endless plains), reflects its vast savanna.
Climate and Accessibility
Accessible by road from Arusha (335 km, 7-8 hours) or charter flights to Seronera airstrip. The dry season (June-October) is best for migration viewing, with temperatures of 20-30°C. The wet season (November-April) brings 500-1,000 mm rainfall, ideal for lush landscapes and calving season.
