Overview
Brief History
Ugalla River National Park, established in 2019, covers 3,865 km² in western Tanzania. Upgraded from a game reserve, it’s managed by TANAPA and protects miombo woodlands and the Ugalla River, supporting elephants, lions, and antelopes in a remote, untouched wilderness.
Climate and Accessibility
Accessible by charter flights to Ugalla airstrip or by road from Tabora (180 km, 4-5 hours). The dry season (June-October) is ideal for wildlife viewing, with temperatures of 20-30°C. The wet season (November-April) brings 800-1,200 mm rainfall, limiting road access but enhancing river scenery.
