Sample Itinerary
Day 1: Arusha to Miriakamba Hut – Begin the Trek
Depart Arusha after breakfast, driving to Arusha National Park. Start the trek from Momella Gate, ascending through forests to Miriakamba Hut (2,500m). Enjoy views of wildlife like buffaloes and monkeys. Overnight at the hut. Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut – Ascent Continues
After breakfast, trek to Saddle Hut (3,570m), passing through heath and moorland zones. Enjoy panoramic views of Mount Meru’s crater and Kilimanjaro. Optional afternoon hike to Little Meru (3,820m). Overnight at Saddle Hut. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 3: Saddle Hut to Summit and Descent – Summit Day
Start pre-dawn for the summit push to Socialist Peak (4,562m), reaching the top by sunrise. Marvel at the crater and Kilimanjaro views. Descend to Miriakamba Hut for the night, passing scenic trails. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 4: Miriakamba Hut to Arusha – Safari Extension
Descend to Momella Gate after breakfast, then enjoy a safari in Arusha National Park. Spot giraffes, zebras, and flamingos by the lakes. Have a picnic lunch, then return to Arusha by late afternoon. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
