Sample Itinerary
Day 1: Moshi/Arusha to Mandara Hut – Start the Trek
Travel from Moshi or Arusha to Marangu Gate (1,860m) after breakfast. Begin your trek through dense rainforest to Mandara Hut (2,700m), a 3-4 hour journey. Settle in for dinner and overnight. Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Day 2: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut – Into the Moorlands
Trek through heath and moorland zones to Horombo Hut (3,720m), about 5-6 hours, with views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Rest and enjoy the hut’s cozy ambiance. Overnight at Horombo Hut. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 3: Horombo Hut – Acclimatization Day

Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut – Alpine Zone

Day 5: Kibo Hut to Summit and Descent – Summit Day
Start at midnight for the summit, reaching Gilman’s Point (5,681m) and Uhuru Peak (5,895m) by sunrise, about 6-8 hours. Descend to Horombo Hut (3,720m), totaling 12-15 hours. Overnight at Horombo Hut. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 6: Horombo Hut to Moshi/Arusha – Return Journey
Descend through moorland and rainforest to Marangu Gate (1,860m), about 5-6 hours. Collect your summit certificate, have a packed lunch, and transfer to Moshi or Arusha by late afternoon. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
