Sample Itinerary
Day 1: Moshi/Arusha to Simba Camp – Begin the Climb
Depart from Moshi or Arusha after breakfast, driving to Rongai Gate (1,950m). Trek through pine plantations and rainforest to Simba Camp (2,650m), about 3-4 hours. Overnight at Simba Camp. Meals: Lunch, Dinner
Day 2: Simba Camp to Second Cave – Moorland Trek

Day 3: Second Cave to Kikelewa Camp – Scenic Ascent

Day 4: Kikelewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn – Alpine Zone

Day 5: Mawenzi Tarn to Kibo Hut – Summit Preparation
Cross the lunar-like “Saddle” to Kibo Hut (4,703m), about 4-5 hours. Rest early to prepare for the summit push. Overnight at Kibo Hut Camp. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 6: Kibo Hut to Summit and Descent – Summit Day
Begin the summit push at midnight, reaching Gilman’s Point (5,681m) and Uhuru Peak (5,895m) by sunrise, about 6-8 hours. Descend to Horombo Hut (3,720m), totaling 12-15 hours. Overnight at Horombo Hut or transfer to Moshi/Arusha. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
